Amala Paul’s role in Amma Kanakku has been appreciated by the likes of Dhanush and Ilaiyaraaja. This has got her really excited, and she says, “I play Shanti, a maid and the mother of a 13-year-old, in this film. Though she is a young mom
She appears very mature, and Dhanush felt that I would be apt for this role, and approached me for it. I had to undergo a transformation of sorts, to become Shanti. It was very challenging as well as emotionally draining. I had to show different expressions in each and every scene.
But I bonded well with Yuvalakshmi, who has played the role of my daughter in this film this off-screen bonding helped improve our performance during the shoot because when we do an emotional scene, we need the complete support of the co-actor to be convincing on screen.
Yuva also acted equally well, and so, I was able to do my part well. It was also great working with Revathy ma’am, plus, director Ashwini was very clear about what she wanted out of the artists, and she outlined the same very clearly.
