Manisha Koirala recently made a comeback in Bollywood but was still looking out for meaty roles. The actress has been signed for a Hindi-Bengali film to be directed by Promega Sengupta, who has been an assistant director for some renowned names like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Prakash Jha.
Manisha Koirala will be seen as the mother of a 20-year-old in this film. She will play the role of a Bihari-Muslim who resides in Bengal and will be seen donning a burqa almost throughout the film. The actress will be speaking Hindi with a tinge of Urdu and colloquial Bengali. From what we hear, she has already started prepping for the same and has been attending workshops in Mumbai.
The film revolves around mother-son bond wherein the mother reunites with her son after 20 years. Producer Himanshu Dhanuka describes it as a strong woman-centric film. It has also been learned that Bengali actor Anirban plays the role of Manisha’s son Maulali in the film.
The untitled film will be shot in Kolkata extensively in a start to end two-month schedule and is slated to go on floor in November. It is also being said that Manisha Koirala will be flying to the Bengal capital a few weeks before to prep for her character.
