Delhi: Indian Military procurement council meeting led by Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held yesterday in Delhi. In this case, 7 lakh 40 thousand modern guns were approved for the use of the three forces at Rs 12,280 crore.
Defence Acquisition Council on Tuesday gave approval for a series of proposals to shore up the Army’s infantry firepower and other deals, together with estimated at ₹15,935 crore.
The Defence Ministry cleared a proposal to buy 7.40 lakh assault rifles at a cost of Rs 12,280 crore for the three services, officials said.
The defence ministry will also procure light machine guns worth Rs 1,819 crore, they said.
