The announcements indicate a step closer to a potential merger of the two AIADMK factions – the AIADMK (Amma) and the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma).
Mr. Palaniswami, however, stopped short of saying that he was conceding to the other camp’s demands. Instead, he said that based on various representations from many different organisations, “an inquiry commission headed by a retired High Court judge will be constituted to investigate Amma’s death reported by The Hindu
Announcing the conversion of the late leader’s house into a public memorial, he said: “to enable people to know her achievements and sacrifices, Veda Nilayam will be converted into a public memorial and people will be given access to it”.
