The new passenger train service between Kolkata and Bangladesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee participated in a video conference in Kolkata today.
A fully air-conditioned weekly passenger train service ‘Bandhan Express’ will run every Thursday from both Kolkata and Khulna.
On the occasion, Modi said the ties of friendship between India and Bangladesh have further strengthened.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said I congratulate the people of the two countries on this auspicious occasion. Our ties of friendship got more strengthened today.
They also inaugurated two bridges over the rivers Meghna and Titas in Bangladesh. They opened two bridges on the Magna and Titus Rivers in Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina said today that it is the best day for friendship between the two countries because of the railway and the opening of two bridges.
The dream of the people living on the borders of the two countries has been fulfilled by this rail service.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the service is a significant day for both countries. She said the relations between the two countries will be strengthened in the future. Citizenship and Customer facilities were set up at Kolkata Railway Station.
