Prime Minister Narendra Modi terms social justice as the basis to build a strong society; addressing the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort on 70th Independence Day, Prime Minister said 125 crore people of India are part of one family.

Economic progress without social justice can not make India a great country.

He started his speech by greeting the 125 crore Indians and the Indian community living overseas.

The Prime Minister also called on people and institutions at all levels to help India realise its potential.

He highlighted his government’s focus on Neeti, Neeyat and Nirnay.

PM also said transparency in intention will strengthen the policy and ensure strong decision for public good.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to bring down the inflation rate below 6 percent, Prime Minister said he will continue to work to ensure that the food plate of poor is not affected by inflation.

The Prime Minister said there was a time when the government was surrounded by allegations but now the Government is surrounded by expectations.

Asserting that the Indians have the ability to face today’s challenges Prime Minister said the onus is on people of India to convert this freedom to good governance.

On the efforts taken to strengthen agricultural sector, Prime Minister said 90 shut irrigation schemes will be revived.

He also added that 77,000 solar pumps will be distributed to bring down input cost of farmers.

Prime Minister Modi also said sowing of pulses has increased 1.5 times this year and this will help solve a problem of demand shortfall.
