Chennai: The Madras High Court rejected the petition on retired Justice Karna. Currently, he is in Kolkata jail on charges of contempt of court.
The Madras High Court dismissed the petition seeking direction to approach the President’s office to release retired judge CS Karnan.
Chief Justice of India Indira Banerjee and Justice Hemalatha dismissed the petition on Tuesday before the hearings.
The judge said that Karnan belonged to Dalit class and that social injustice was being imposed.
But the magistrates dismissed the petition saying that in any circumstance the judge had not received the imprisonment of Karnan. The further arrest is not in any court in any court. The list of respondents mentioned in the Commonwealth is in Delhi.
“No case has been filed in the Madras High Court jurisdiction. So it is difficult to accept this welfare petition, so it is rejected, “the judges ordered.
